A “voice”, or better stated as the number of voices, is the maximum that can be played polyphonicly at one time. I'm thinking to have some percussive sounds to occur in a similar timing fashion as a drummer would play to support/suggest a groove, other aspects of the voices to be pad like, modulation on another for extra movement and maybe a split to have a lead instrument for the other half of the controllers keys.? If I'm still on track, how do you dictate where the individual voices begin and end relative to each other and/or the time signature? If I have that right, can you edit/create the individual voices to occur relative to each other in time?Īs in, the whole length of the sequence is 8 measures long and one or more of the voices begins on the downbeat of the first measure but other voices can be created to begin at other beats of later measures? It looks like you can have a complex 'voice' in one preset that is a combination of 'patches' and they are in individual 'lanes' and so if you hold a note, or chord, over time some of those voices will start and complete within the timeframe of the 'master lane' at which time the whole sequence repeats? FWIW, I've have not yet seen anyone who actually has tried to program a Wavestate from scratch express differently from my experience.Ĭan you help a complete novice to the synth world about this? I just factored the effort required against other ways to make great useful sounds and decided it wasn't for me.

I'm sure they'll be plenty folks who'll be willing to get much more out of it than I was. After spending a couple long programming sessions with it, I couldn't get the sound of those buttons out of my head. It's also where 80% of the button pushing is required.

That's were 80% of the programming is done on Wavestate for it's main use. But Korg should of spent more effort on the hands on UI of the wave sequencing engine and put it on a larger screen IMO. Wavestate has all the right hands on controls for the filter, EG, and LFOs. More over, Wavestate is more like how older digital synths were programed because the processing power was less and the costs of screens were more. For example, Hydrasynth does not require the same level of parameter paging and there are multiple screens to use.
